1- COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING SENTENCES WITH THE MOST SUITABLE TENSE OF THE INFINITIVE IN BRACKETS:

1- Yesterday, while I WAS WATCHING(watch) TV, the phone RANG(ring) twice.

2- Next summer I AM TRAVELLING (travel) to Europe. Everything is planned.

3- Don't worry. I WILL WRITE (write) to you every week.

2- Yesterday I didn't see you. If I HAD SEEN (see) you, I WOULD HAVE TOLD (tell) you the news.

3- Henry always comes in the morning. If he COMES (come) tomorrow morning, I WILL INVITE (invite) him to our party.

4-James always goes to bed very late. If he WENT (go) to bed early, he WOULD NOT BE (not/ be) so tired in the morning.

3- CHOOSE THE MOST SUITABLE MODAL VERB:

1- This is the library. You mustn't/ don't have to/ might not speak loudly.

2- It is very late: you should/might/ can go to bed.

3- Playing football is very easy: you don't need to/ shouldn't/ mustn't be an athlete.

4- When I was 5 years old I can/could/ may read and write.

4- JOIN THE FOLLOWING SENTENCES USING RELATIVES. OMIT THE RELATIVE WHENEVER POSSIBLE.

2- What have you done with the money? I gave you that money.

4- The old man returned to his home town. He had been born there.

5- The woman is a doctor. She lives next door to me.

6- We met some people. Their car had broken down.

5- TRANSLATE THE FOLLOWING SENTENCES INTO ENGLISH. USE THE PASSIVE VOICE. START WITH THE WORDS GIVEN:

1- Se venden muchos coches todos los días.

2- A loud noise woke us up during the night.

WE WERE WOKEN UP BY A LOUD NOISE DURING THE NIGHT.

3- Someone was cleaning the room yesterday at 7.00.

THE ROOM WAS BEING CLEANED YESTERDAY AT 7.00

4- We could hear the music from the distance.

THE MUSIC COULD BE HEARD FROM THE DISTANCE.

5- A private detective will follow them tomorrow.

THEY WILL BE FOLLOWED BY A PRIVATE DETECTIVE TOMORROW.

7- WRITE THE FOLLOWING SENTENCES IN REPORTED SPEECH.

1- "I don't want to go to the party tomorrow", Andrew said.

ANDREW SAID THAT HE DIDN'T WANT TO GO TO THE PARTY THE FOLLOWING DAY.

2- "Are you going to buy a new car next month?"my friend asked me.

MY FRIEND ASKED ME IF I WAS GOING TO BUY A NEW CAR THE NEXT MONTH.

3- "How long have you lived here?"the employer asked the applicant.

THE EMPLOYED ASKED THE APPLICANT HOW LONG HE HAD LIVED THERE.

4- "Why didn't you tell me the truth?"the police officer asked the criminal.

THE POLICE OFFICER ASKED THE CRIMINAL WHY HE HADN'T TOLD HIM THE TRUTH.

5- "You should work hard to pass all your exams", the old teacher told his students.

THE OLD TEACHER TOLD HIS STUDENTS THAT THEY SHOULD WORK HARD TO PASS ALL THEIR EXAMS.

6- "It may rain tomorrow", she said.

SHE SAID THAT IT MIGHT RAIN THE DAY AFTER.

7- "She can swim 100 metres in 30 seconds", he said.

HE SAID THAT SHE COULD SWIM 100 METRES IN 30 SECONDS.

8- "Do they usually go out at weekends?"the detective asked the suspect.

THE DETECTIVE ASKED THE SUSPECT IF THEY USUALLY WENT OUT AT WEEKENDS.

9- "Open the window," Ann told Sam.

ANN TOLD SAM TO OPEN THE WINDOW.

10- "Don't tell anyone about this," the bank robber told me.

THE BANK ROBBER TOLD ME NOT TO TELL ANYONE ABOUT THAT.

A few days ago I was young, just as you are. Now I am middle-aged, and soon, in a few years, I will be old. Unfortunately, no-one can stay young forever, so enjoy your life, and always try to make the most of it.

This morning I was watching the news and I learnt that 22 women have been killed by their partners or ex-partners in Spain this year. Only last weekend 3 women were killed.
Then I started to think about that. In fact, it is a problem that has been with us for a long time but somehow we have turned our backs on it. And then I realised that it was the right time to do something... I don't know what... I don't know how... But there has to be a way... What do you think?

IRELAND IN OUR HEARTS

Today we celebrated the Day of Europe at school, dedicated to one European country. This year Ireland was in the spotlight, so the ESO students elaborated beautiful posters, which can be seen in the corridors of the school. Besides, the students of the 1st year of Bac. introduced us to some very interesting facts about the Emerald Island, its culture, natural landscapes, sport, people and history, and we could enjoy this video about Irish dancing by Riverdance.
