INTERMEDIATE 1: GRAMMAR AND VOCABULARY QUESTIONS FOR THE EXAM.




Hi, everybody. I've got a question for you. Is the following sentence correct or incorrect? Why?

" I've lived in London for two years, and now I live in Paris."

    -I SAW myselve IN the mirror or ON the mirror
    -She was phoning my sister or TO my sister
    -(quedar viuda) She got widow???
    -(la seguimos queriendo) We´ve loved her.
    -(la pongo en el cd ,una cancion) I put it ON the CD

  3. 1- I saw (looked at) myself in the mirror.
    "Look at"- cuando te miras, con intención.

    2- She was phoning my sister. ( No preposition).

    3-She became a widow/ She was widowed.
    NOTE: He became a widower./ He was widowed.

    4- Depende de lo que quieras decir:
    "la seguimos queriendo"( sin hacer referencia a desde cuándo o durante cuánto tiempo)
    = we still love her (now).

    "la queremos desde que nacimos (implicando que aún la queremos ahora, que la seguimos queriendo)
    = We have loved her since we were born.

    ( En este uso del present perfect, para expresar que una acción o estado empieza en el pasado y continúa en el presente, hay que hacer referencia al tiempo con "for" o "since".)

    5- I play the song on the CD player.

    The sentence is incorrect. We can't use the present perfect tense plus "for" or "since" to express an action or state that is finished.

    Your sentence is the right one:
    I LIVED in London for two years, and now I live in Paris.
